FBI Citizen Academy in Springfield Awarded Green Weather Guarantee Check

The FBI Springfield Citizens Academy Alumni Association is making waves not only in community education but also in environmental responsibility. This week, they were honored as the latest recipient of the Green Weather Guarantee check from NewsChannel 20, receiving $1,800 to support their outreach and training efforts.

The Citizens Academy plays a vital role in building trust between the FBI and local residents through education and transparency. The $1,800 check will go toward continuing their mission of informing the public about the FBI’s role and promoting civic engagement in a safe, proactive way.

During a presentation by FBI bomb techs, participants at an 2024 FBI Springfield Community Awareness Program learned about tubes that initiate shock to begin the detonation process. Energy travels through the tube at speeds greater than 6,500 feet per second, more than five times faster than the speed of sound.

Charlyn Ware, RD, started Simply from Scratch several years ago as a nonprofit way to help other organizations. With her natural talent for baking, Charlyn, known to most of you as Char, is well known in the community for her generous nature and willingness to help others, especially nonprofit organizations doing good work for our communities, residents, and children. A local business owner heard about Simply from Scratch asking Char to bake cookies for her clients for the past several years.  Due to this generous work, the business owner contributed $1,000 donation to Char's favorite nonprofit organization doing good for the community. For the past two years, Char has picked the FBISCAAA for this donation to help support the important program work for children at the Outlet and other events.               

Char indicated, "I feel it's just one way we can use our talents to help others."

The FBISCAAA would like to thank Char Ware, our immidate past president, for this very generous and thoughtful donation! Char's impressive contributions to FBISCAAA sets a wonderful example for all of us to follow. We are so appreciative to have her amazing work, dedication, and commitment to FBISCAAA! Thank you Char!
